Dr. Willem van Aardt, B Proc (Cum Laude), LLM, LLD
Group Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Willem van Aardt is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Finbond and has more than 26 years of experience in financial services and the short-term lending sectors.
He founded Finbond in January 2003 and has served as Group CEO for over 23 years. Previously, he co-founded and served as Executive Director of Thuthukani Group Limited, a JSE-listed short-term lending and debt collection company.
Dr. van Aardt completed his Doctorate in Public Law at North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus) in 2005, and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2008. He also completed International Development Ireland’s “Strategy in Management and Banking Programme” in Dublin (2009).
In 2020, he was appointed as an Extraordinary Research Fellow at the North-West University Research Unit: Law, Justice and Sustainability. He previously worked as a Legal Consultant at Sanlam.
